Book 1 Project

Idea 1- Heaven vs. Hell t-shirts
·         In the book, Riley has to choose where her allegiance stands, heaven or hell. She makes a deal with both and it’s going to be pretty hard to please both God and Lucifer.
I think this idea will work because who doesn’t LOVE t-shirts?? I also think that it’s a topic that people struggle with all the time, not just as these being places but as them being states of mind.

IDEA 1:

 Coming soon in pink

Idea 2- A Convention/Party for the new book release on February 28th, 2012
·         This idea is for people who are already are fans and have read, and loved, the other two books.
·       This could also give them a way to lure people into the series. It’s a fun way to get to know the book (and NOT in a dorky way!!)
o   If you want to dress up like one of the characters that would be cool but don’t be creepy about it. (If you want to dress up like the hot fallen demon Ori, who rarely has a shirt on, please make sure that you HAVE a shirt ON!!)
The reason I think this will work is because it is a laid back environment. It’s fun and also upbeat. It targets the teenage public, which is the age group that will like the book most.
IDEA 2:

Idea 3- Have a huge DEMON TRAPPER MOBILE!!!
·         This is so accessible and fun!!! IT will play cool music that everyone likes. (Nothing annoying like the ice-cream truck, hate that stuff!) People can buy or borrow a book from the series. People will want to check out the bus and will become interested in the reason there is a bus in their neighborhood.
This will attract people of ALL ages, kids, teenagers and adults. I know it will work because the book comes to them if they don’t have time to go the book.

Whats in a book?

A book is a TOOL.

I believe that a book is a tool that we use to gain knowledge and a sense of the world that we might not have had before.

Most of the books on your bookshelves might be beautifully designed, and not exactly cheap, but they’re no more divine than a toaster-Victor LaValle

I find this statement to be utterly and truly false!!! A book isn't something that people should take for granted! Seriously! A toaster?? Books have value and they add benefits to the world, not just toast!!!

Television, film, even the stage play, have already been imagined for us, but the book, in whatever form we choose to interact with it, forces us to complete it.-Joe Meno

OK this guy KNOWS WHERE ITS AT!!! I agree 100%. I'm not saying that t.v.'s and movies should be illegal, but come on!!! A give props to the people who have the creativity to create these shows and films but that's just it...its THEIR creativity!!

The new and improved book... the kindle, the i-pad. I don't think that they have no value. They are definitely the trend and are the books of the future. In this day and age we want whats new. Physical books are thought to be too much of a hassle. I think that you should be able to choose which form you find most convenient. Your still reading which is all that matters. Yes I prefer the physical book but I don't think its because it has 'magical' abilities. I thinks its a personal preference.

Why do I read??

The main reason that I read is for the adventure that comes with each book that I read. It doesn't matter what genre I choose to read, there is somewhere new to explore. However, fantasies are the genre that give me great pleasure. Usually when we get older our sense of imagination seems to fade. We are constantly bombarded with structure and 'staying in the lines'. When we were in kindergarten we were encouraged to be adventurous and to try new things. Now being in high school everything has the 'right' way to do it. When I read books it lets me use my imagination more. My mind is put into the situation were I have to think of what the characters look like. Another really big reason I read is for pure entertainment. I love to be able to unwind by just reading.

Soul Thief by Jana Oliver

1. Jana Oliver self-published her first three books in an effort to learn how publishing actually works, learning a lot such as  how to calculate a book’s spine size and typeset a manuscript

2. Her first book in the Demon Trapper series, The Demon Trapper's Daughter, also has a German edition.

3.The series (SOJOURN, VIRTUAL EVIL and MADMAN’S DANCE) was nominated for fifteen awards and has won twelve to date.

Sarah on Soul Thief
Once again, Oliver does an incredible job with the world-building and setting. Honestly, it’s the world that keeps me reading this series. It’s dark, creepy, eerie and utterly fascinating.  For those of you who have read the first book, you know what I mean. You simply cannot deny that it is both enigmatic and gripping. And the demons! The demons in Soul Thief are once again, awesome.
